Mecatan, Nayarit, Mexico Mecatan is nestled in the mountains between San Blas and Tepic. It is totally surrounded by mango, banana and avocado plantations. Outside of town is a waterfall and some remaining native jungle - a beautiful spot for a walk. If you take the Santa Cruz to Tepic road you will see the turnoff right after Jalcocotan. It is 9 kilometers on paved roads. There is an unpaved road that cuts through to the "San Blas to Crusero" road. There is a third road that cuts off from Mecatan to La Palma. The road is narrow and paved with cobblestones and makes for a very adventurous afternoon. This road has virtually no traffic and would make a great hiking or dirt bike trail. | |
